Paving in West Jordan
Asphalt paving in West Jordan covers a large and varied city. West Jordan had 116,961 residents in 2020, making it the third most populous city in Utah. It lies about 18 miles southwest of downtown Salt Lake City, between the Jordan River on the east and the Oquirrh Mountains on the west. Settled around 1848 and 1849, it incorporated on January 10, 1941.
Early history
Archibald Gardner built one of the area's first sawmills here in 1850. South Valley Regional Airport, on the west side, was originally part of Camp Kearns and served as Kearns Army Airfield in World War II. The city has grown through every decade since.
Neighborhoods of every age
West Jordan has older homes near the river and newer subdivisions climbing toward the Oquirrhs. Older driveways often need full replacement on a new base. Newer ones benefit most from crack sealing and sealcoating. RV pads and side-yard parking are common requests across the city.
Commercial and industrial lots
West Jordan has large commercial and industrial areas with heavy truck traffic. Lots need thicker sections where trucks run, good drainage and clear striping. We rebuild failed sections, overlay, crack seal, sealcoat and restripe, phased to keep businesses open.
Climate
Like the rest of the valley, West Jordan has hot, dry summers and cold winters with snow. Sun oxidizes asphalt and freeze-thaw opens cracks, so sealing and crack filling are the best investments.
Permits
In West Jordan the city handles curb-cut changes, and we check what it needs before scheduling. State routes require a UDOT encroachment permit.
What an estimate covers
For homes, we measure, check drainage and probe soft spots. Industrial and commercial sites get a lot sketch showing failures, truck paths and stall counts. Every quote is written and itemized.
